6 Common Mistakes That Makes Your Painting Appear Botched

Choosing the right colour can be very tough. A lot of things can go wrong when attempting to use the colours in your home. Sometimes even the painting service providers fail to acknowledge these mistakes. Here are 6 most common mistakes you should stop making when painting your houses. Read through the article to know them and learn how to fix them.

Not Giving Enough Thoughts on the Lighting Condition

The lighting conditions in your home determine the right colours to be used for that particular room setting. Light adds clear definition to a colour, it has the ability to make an attractive shade look unfitting and uninviting, while a weird one looking beautiful and bright.

Before painting your walls, you can use a painted sample and tape it up on the wall. This will help you understand whether your prospective colours fit the lighting conditions or not.  If your chosen shades do not appear fitting, bring them back to the paint store and discuss it with someone experienced on the reasons for the paints to not appear right.

Wrongly Balancing the Colour Palettes with too Many Colours

There are no authorized limits on the number of colours you can or should use in one room. Not even will the local painting services in Sydney will be able to tell you that. However, adding numerous shades of combination does not always work fine.  You can experiment with it in one room, to make it appear unique, however the pattern should not be repeated on each and every room in your house.

It will make the rooms feel chaotic and keep you mentally off-guard. How can you fix this? You can start eliminating the colours until you strike a balance. Keep limited primary colours (one or two) that you will use the most to paint your room. You can use a handful of secondary colours and evenly spread around the location to carry your eyes through a room.

Having no Variations at All

While having too many variations can be chaotic, not having enough colour variations can be problematic too. You need to use your shades to create a visual story that should be presented in a style that is understandable. Using only 2-3 colours throughout your entire house can appear very repetitive, predictable and leave it without any charm.
It can be solved by adding different types of hues that are not associated with your chosen colour palette. You need to spread them throughout your house. They will bathe your home with a fresh and lively feeling.

Eye Comfort is Very Important

Even though we all prefer using bold colours to paint our walls yet, these walls need some spots for the eyes to rest and feel comfortable. Do not create a situation where everywhere you see, you find bright and light colours. Initially it could be fine however, in time this can have a toll on your eyes, brain and eventually mood. Make sure that you ask your painting services to include an empty space in your rooms or blend in a large element of neutral colours that balances out with all the other colours in the room.

Always Keeping it too Safe

We often avoid using colours that we really want to; just because you think it will look too wild. Admit it, you definitely wanted to use a bright blue or red couch for your room but opt for a neutral one because it looked more practical. Blue kitchen cabinets? You have thought about it but have never dared to use it. You avoid experimenting with your colours by playing it too safe. You think that by playing it safe you avoid making colour mistakes, however, allowing your home to appear more boring than it is. This is one of the biggest mistakes you can ever make.

Choosing the Wrong Sheen/Finish

Sometimes it happens that you pick the right colours for your walls that still feels off. This is because you might have bought the wrong finish/sheen. Things could have been better if you would have gone for a full glossy sheen. The fix for this is to get the right shades and pin the samples with different finishes up on the wall. Then pick the right colour to see if it still looks good in the space in your lighting conditions.
